    My 85 Tecate build

Well I guess it's time I start a build thread for this 85 T3 I picked up off of CL a few months back. It's pretty rough as you can tell but it's almost impossible to find them here in the south so when this one popped up I jumped on it. I was expecting it to need quite a bit of work but when I picked it up I was surprised to see how pieced together this thing actually was. The rear axle and master cylinder are from a Tri-Z the silencer is from a different bike and it's missing a lot of hardware. The engine would run but the intake boot was cracked and it needed some carb work. I replaced the axle with a spare I had and ordered an intake boot from Jeswinehart so I could ride it a few times before tearing it down for a complete restoration. While changing out the intake boot believe it or not I realized this thing had been running without reeds. John helped me out again by sending me a spare set he had and I finally got around to putting it back together this weekend. It will need some fine tuning but I'm very pleased with the way it runs for now. I've got a few other projects going right now so this will probably be a long build.

If you are looking for some parts to complete this Tecate, I have a few parts you are missing. I've got all replacement plastics including the tank, radiator guard, light pcs, silencers, rear tires, and a couple aftermarket pipes.

I'll definitely be looking for some plastics and aftermarket exhaust in a few weeks once I get everything cleaned up. I'll probably strip it down this weekend and get the frame, tripples, and swingarm ready for powder coating. I've already ordered new bearings from All Balls and I have a decent set of forks but I need to find a replacement rear shock.
