    Tricky Dick's conversions questions

I've heard all about them, was a new frame used or did he modify the existing motorcycle frame?
I'm wondering if he still has the drawings or plans?
    Did they handle well?
Aside from the husky and cagiva what other conversions did he do?

I saw a kx60 or kx80 conversion last year, someone said it may be a Trick Dicks conversion.

All conversions used the existing frame. Some of the conversions required the rake to be cut. There wasn't any official blueprints or plans on the conversions. Most handled pretty good. The YZ400 was horrible until the rake was cut. It looked like a chopper. lol I raced it once when I was 14 in an open class before is was cut. I was so wore out that I put it into the wall on the last corner and rolled across the line for the win. haha...good times! The Cagiva 200 was definitely made in more production than the rest. Most were one-off conversions. Here's the list of the conversions that I can remember off the top of my head. Some models were of multiple years.

    Cagiva
    WMX125
    WMX200
    WMX500

    Honda
    CR80
    CR125
    CR500

    Husky
    250CR

    Kawasaki
    KX60
    KX80
    KX125
    KX420

    Suzuki
    RM80
    RM125

    Yamaha
    RD350
    RD400
    YZ125
    YZ400

The Cagiva probably handled the best. If you look at the early 200, you'll see we tried using a trailing axle thinking that it would handle better. But it was actually worse. We went with a leading axle and it was much better. And we didn't have to cut the rake.

Thanks for posting the model of your conversions. Do you have any pics of RD350 or RD400 trikes? I do not recall ever seeing one.

Actually dad's first conversion was a RD350. Here's a pic of it. The guy standing was a our machinist. Dad still has it but it's missing wheels and the front fender is broke. If I didn't have a million other projects I can't finish, I'd get it running. We had 2-3 that we raced on flat track. They would haul ass. I loved how they sounded screaming on the track. Basically sounded like a Banshee.

    Thanks!
I remember seeing the cagiva ads and thinking how cool it looked.
Kx125 would have been cool looking.
I remember seeing a kx 200 or 250 raced by some guy out west, I think his name was Paul Woods? Or Rogers?
I never saw any features on his bike.
Never heard much about the 3 b yamaha bikes. I wonder who has those.
    Thanks for writing.
Any plans on converting some new bikes like a crf 250?

I wish I had the time and facility to do a conversion. Job and kids pretty much take all my time. If I did though, it would have to be something different like KTM, Gas Gas or Husaberg.
