Yeah, I saw the DS450 shock mod on other forums and may get a set at some point. I plan to replace the front tires, sway bar and maybe do the shocks soon. I am gonna get some more seat time first. I mainly chose this quad over the Raptor and YFZ 450 cause of the plush suspension and I don't really want to lose that part. I am in the process of wet sanding the plastic, trying to bring back some newness. I had a black 400ex and swore I would never own another black quad and here I am with another. LOL Black just looks horrible after a while.

that 700xx looks goofy to me sitting next to the kfx. i dont know how i would like the irs of the xx. everything ive rode in my life is sra, alot easier to kick the rear out and power thru a corner or what have you. i like both my kfx, and raptor 700 for different reasons. raptor can really take the higher rpms, and cant really be tight and nimble. where as the kfx is more of a beefy quad. power bands are different in the raptor and kfx. kfx is alot of low end grunt, where raptor is mid to high.
i was tossing the idea of getting a xx around, but the irs has me very iffy.

to the op, to really wake up your kfx. get a nice exhaust, and do a 12 hole mod and jet accordingly. i did a muzzy super pro, 12 hole mod, and jetted it. it was almost nite and day difference in the quad. and to give it a little more pep, try either a pink or red primary clutch spring. changes the point at which the clutch grabs. a pink is a good all around spring, where as a red is a little more in your face type. itll yank the front end up really quick with a red spring.

I was gonna do all of those mods to my KFX plus a 730 kit but I decided to spend the money on another quad instead. It's funny how you talk about the Raptors powerband compared to the KFX, cause you are correct. That is how it is with the Honda vs KFX but when you compare dyno charts or read magazine tests comparing the Honda and Raptor, the Raptor is praised for it's low end torque and ability to be lugged and the Honda has more power in the upper RPMS. I haven't ridden a 700 Raptor before but my findings are similar to the reviews I have read. The Honda does not like to be lugged, it wants to rev and it doesn't seem to go flat at all, it just keeps pulling all the way to the rev limiter. The best way to describe the handling on the Honda is torquey compare it to a front wheel drive car. It understeers a lot but is still a lot of fun, you just have to ride it different then a typical sport quad. It's not as fun as a sra quad in turns but when the going gets rough, it begins to shine.

I took the Honda to the dunes last weekend and it wasn't disappointing. It never lacked in power or got stuck without using paddle tires. I rode with a group of 450's and Raptor 700's. I was worried about the weight being a problem but it never was. I mentioned in my earlier posts about the Honda lacking in low end torque but it must of been cause I rode it and the KFX 700 back to back cause at the dunes I never had to use first gear, it had plenty of torque to lug around or rev if I wanted to. I did see a couple other 700xx's riding around but never got to chat with the owners. Most people in my group had never seen one in action, so they all had questions about the quad. I could tell the Raptor guys had this my quad is better mentality but none of them tried to prove it though. I could have bought any quad on th he market but I wanted to try something different, so it annoys me when people try to look down on other people that ride something different. Anyway the Honda is definitely a quad that doesn't get enough recognition, the problem is that you have to get some seat time on one to figure it out and that is a problem cause most people only take a quad for a quick ride when doing a test ride and their opinion will be based off five minutes of riding.

I like it a lot! It has a powerful engine and rides better then any other sport quad I have ridden. I believe one of the biggest reasons it didn't sell, is cause the economy crashed right after it was released.

I've rode a 13 raptor 700R but never the xx. I guess the 15 700R are freaking amazingly fast.

One of the guys I went to the dunes with brought his brand new 15 Raptor 700 but he never raced any of the older model 700's that were with us. I wanted a Raptor originally but I am satisfied with the Honda.
