Pull off the left cover and you'll find the problem. It's always external linkage posts/springs/dowels blah blah blah but you'll find it there. I have had 100 motors apart and never found bent shift forks or a bad drum etc. etc. Bad gears when guys left out a thrust washer or didn't line up an oil orifice, but that's the mechanics fault.
Of course if the main clutch is slipping, just try the adjustment 1st. But any hang ups or no-shifts is found under that cover.
Numerous parts in there come loose or break off; Very common and cheap easy fix......
