my 83 200x kick start is not cranking

when i kick start the my 200x it dosnt turn motor but then it will catch on one spot and crank the engine so i took apart couldnt find any stripped gears. Any idea s ??

Pic number 1. The ratchet on the shaft and the kickstarter gear to the left are stripping. They dont look like it, but they are. You need to search high and low for an NOS ratchet and gear. It would also be a good idea to replace both springs while you are in there.

Again, they won't appear stripped, they are. Plus your ratchet spring isn't expanding like it use to when it rolled off the line in '83. Done 4 of these now. Reassemble it and roll the dice or find NOS springs and gears...up to you.

Very simple the spring doesn't keep enough pressure on the ratchet thus causing it to slip . Best to replace both ratchet gears and install a new HD spring .

ok thanks for the help ill try different gears and shim the spring to make it tighter, its very hard to find parts with out buying a whole parts bike , right now i have 2 bikes trying to make one good one.
