    200x carb. issue?

I have an 84 200x all stock except bored to 66mm and a cobra exhaust that has a hesitation at slight throttle or slow speed that will kill the engine if held. I cleaned the carb. by letting it soak over night then blew compressed air threw all passages and cleaned the jets. The sizes are 40 low and 108 high with the pilot 1.5 turns out and main needle middle position. With it running and pilot turned 2-2.5 out it runs rough and with the needle in the 4th groove down its rich. I just checked the timing and set it with a timing light and adjusted the valves to .006in. I also tried running with out the air lid but no change and the spark plug is a new ngk dr8es. What did I miss?

Still sounds like a plugged pilot circuit to me.

valve clearance is .08 MM or .003 inches

Clean the carb again and I would suggest rebuilding.

ya I have screw, spring, washer and new o-ring. I looked at it and it looks like the hole where the screw protrudes is kinda big so do they make different size screws?

could me the idle jet. also what is the mixture screw set at? if you bored it out, you may have to open the mixture screw up another 1/2 turn to clean it up. also try lowering the e-clip on the slide pin. go 1 notch and set mixture screw to 2 turns out. see what happens.

I have a dg pipe ,kn filter ,and i know for sure im running a 42 idle, and think im runnin a 110 main. But im sure on the idle. Its a lil rich but id rather have that than too lean. And when i crack the throttle theres no hesitation.

Well that dead spot, is it about 1/3 throttle? If so you need to go up a main jet size. The 1/3-1/2 is the point where give needle leaves the jet and from there tuning is all main jet.

Pilot Jet = 0 to 1/4 throttle. Needle = 1/4 to 3/4 throttle. Main Jet = 3/4 to Full Throttle

I have the main needle in the 4th groove and the dead spot is gone but it idles rough because of to much fuel and ive tried anywhere form closed to 3 turns out on the pilot but still to rich. If I put it back in the 3rd groove its better richness wise but then it has the hesitation so I ordered a new carb. just to try and see how it does. I rode it around yesterday and it does ok but just wont idle worth a crap so when the carb. shows up ill try that. I also try adjusting the timing but didn't help so put it back to where it is supposed to be.

Remember, 1 jet change at a time!! And write it down!!

Cobra exhaust will need more fuel. Take off the airbox lid and see how it runs. If you did, put it on and see how it runs....

ok if dead spot is gone, that is good. If idle is rich, adjust mixture screw in to 1 and 1/4 turn out.
if that does not help, your idle jet is too big and drop it down a size.
