    BBQ cabbage

I make this a couple times a year
    Bob's BBQ Cabbage:
    1 Large cabbage
    1 Medium Onion
    1 lb of Bacon
    1 cup BBQ Sauce(open pit)
    Directions
Fry 1 lb of bacon, chop into small to medium bits.
Chop onion and saute at high heat for a few minutes, set aside.
Cut flat spot on top of cabbage so when you core it out it stays flat(won't roll).Core out cabbage stem til there is about 1 1/2 left in the bottom and a little smaller than a pop can.I score the inside of cabbage so the sauce saturate the cabbage when it cooks.
Line cabbage with your favorite sauce liberally to the amount you like,I bounce it lightly and roll it and sauce seeps in better.
Mix onion and bacon together and stuff in cabbage.
I pack it til I can get a layer of sauce on top.
Slather outside of cabbage with bacon fat or oil,so it doesn't burn.
    Put cabbage on cooking tray
Cook or grill at 350 deg. for about 2 hrs.
You will see it sag and lay out a little and it should be dripping out the bottom(kinda soggy) and burnt on the outside is OK.
Let cool and transfer to medium bowl.
Pick out the burnt cabbage leaves.
I use a pair of scissors and chop/cut cabbage into bite size pieces.
Add more BBQ sauce if you want, serve and enjoy

Can't say I am a fan of cabbage but this definitely sounds like one of the best ways to prepare it.

I am not the biggest fan of cabbage, (I love sauerkraut) but this sounds great of course most things that have bacon, onion and are covered in BBQ sauce taste great!

THANX, I have added it to my extensive recipe folder.
