    85 and 86 350x differences

I have read through old threads and looked over both models and besides colour , chain adjust and rear caliper is there any other differences? My 85x is the running machine, it needs a few things. Frame is cracked up by the rear of the seat (which I hear is common ). The 86 frame appears to be crack free and in good shape. So I plan to put the 85 motor into the 86 frame after I get it powder coated. Is the 86 swingarm a upgrade over the 85? I assume the 85 and 86 frames are the exact same? While I have it stripped down I probably should figure out the gusset kit, but if I generally trail ride and do a little hill climbing, do I need the gusset kit? I was surprised I didn't find a lot of threads on the differences between the two. Sorry for the simple questions. I just want to do a good job. I have stripped down Big Reds and made a few runners before. But I really want to take my time with this project.

I'm probably talk out of my backside here but...

The frames should interchange with almost no issues.
86s are probably better specifically due to reinforcements on the down tube near the LH foot peg but if you're gusseting correctly shouldn't matter.
Might be missing some tabs for clutch cable routing down the front frame tube.

I used the TPC gusset kit on both my frames - 85 and 86. TPC installed the kit on the 85. A local welder installed it on the 86. My 86 frame was in better (straight) shape versus the tweaked subframe on my 85.
The only issue I had with the gusset kits is clearance for the rear .master cylinder. Bolt it up with all the hoses and verify clearances before paint/PC.
