    300r engine worth?

    A friend of mine knows a guy that has a 84 300r engine guy said the engine runs and shifted good before takin out of the frame I'm just interested in the engine whats it worth?
    83 Honda 250r
    85 Honda 70
    83 Honda 185s
    85 Yamaha Tri-Z (restoring)
    83 Honda 70
    79 Honda 70
    74 Honda Z50

    I sold my 300 Hondaline kit "cylinder-head-piston-rings" for 450 shipped.
    If the lower engine is included the price may be more depending on what is included, like kick start, shifter, electronics...etc..

    I know a used but decent 300 cylinder on ebay will bring 300 to 500 bucks--that's without the rest of the engine.

    I'd say 400-550$. The aircooled engines just don't bring all that much

    IMO that is unrealistic and just way too high to pay for a cylinder only...my ebay score three years ago was a complete engine still in the 84R frame with swinger still attached and I only paid $158. Granted it would have sold for more if he could have gotten the swingarm bolt out and could ship just the motor, but current prices I've seen posted on AF.com guys are scoring these topends for around $150-$300.

    Big bore cylinders are expensive, my 300 kit for Tecate was around 450 plus shipping. Deals can be found out there it takes patience, I can buy an 82 R with a nice DG head & aftermarket pipe for cheap but I don't want it.

    I paid $100 for a a 300r frame, tank, front end and a few odds and ends.. I got lucky. The guy was needing a few bucks and I needed a top end.

    It's worth almost nothing, nobody wants a aircooled old engine that's only 300cc..I will take it off your hands for the price of shipping.

    I don't doubt you can occasionally "score" a decent one off ebay for less than $300--it depends who is looking at the time. I just know the last couple I've seen on ebay started around $300. You can probably find them cheaper on Craig's List as ebay tends to be higher.
