'85 Tri Moto YTM200N rear axle options??

Hey, all. I resurrected a Yamaha Tri Moto (YTM200N) for my GF's dad, and it had a slightly bent axle. It wasn't too bad, but bugged him and he asked me to replace it for him. I got an 83-84 shaft drive axle as a replacement which was not the same axle. Long story shorter - I have not had much luck finding the correct axle shaft and he's been without his ride for a few weeks now. I really want to get this thing put back together, off my plate, and have him running again. Does anyone know if the 225DX uses the same axle? It seems they are easier to find and cheaper. I found an '85 axle for $200, but that's a bit steep to me. Any other options I should consider, like change out the shaft and swinger for 225DX? Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks

The dx axle is similar to the shaft 200 axle. So if the shaft 200 one doesn't work the shaft 225 one shouldn't work either.

The shaft I had ordered was supposed to fit 83-85 shaft drive YTM200s. The shaft I got says 83-84 and I am working on an 85. The differences are very hard to spot unless the axles are side by side. I was thinking the 225 had the same axle shaft as the 85, but I can't find any information confirming this. I was hoping someone had run into this before and had found a solution. I don't want to buy any more axles I can't use.

The part numbers for all three years are identical. What difference are you seeing?

Ytm axles are all the same only difference is the 225 axles are a little smaller diameter but splines are all same size.

Thanks guys, here's what I've got mocking me. Sorry about the pic quality, it's what I could grab quickly. I got this off of ebay, who knows if the pencil written part # is even correct?

Axle that came out of the 85 is the one on the bottom.

ok the difference there is one is for shaft one is for chain drive. A cheaper option for you might be sending off the original axle to get it straightened.

There is a member on here who straightens axles, can't remember who, but he is really good at it, and knows not to use heat when doing it. Because if you use heat you will ruin the tempering of the axle.

Thanks for the info, before I had ordered the axle I specifically asked if it was for a shaft drive. Worst case, I have an extra axle for my YTM200K, but I really didn't need or want one.

I only have one spare axle left for my dx which is off of a 200ern but I am choosing to hold on to it for now. I also have a spare for a 200k as well, as I might aquifer one again in the near future.

I ordered an 84 shaft drive rear end, just got it in the mail yesterday. I haven't had a chance to unbox it yet, but planning to have it installed this weekend.
