I think the deal sounds about equal. As far as not bein good in the woods, that means nothing, anything can be a good woods machine, you just have to get use to how the power comes on, and know how to use it in the woods.

well i got some other pics and the frame in the back is kinda messed up where the grab bar mounts on and he said the motor was painted gray. so i would probly get a new frame and the totaly restore it. i think my x rite now is way nicer so it wouldnt be an even trade. he would have to thro in some cash.(if u saw the puics you would understand).

I think if you can pick up a decent 85-86 atc250r for under a grand it is worth buying. In all the years I have been into these bikes I have only ever seen three or four go for less than that!! Just my opinion.

ATC 250R is awsome in the woods. My 86 is all built up. It is geared to do about 85mph and you can't shift the gears fast enough. It has the big bore and all that and I crawl with it through the woods all the time no problem. You don't have reverse and the rear axle is wide for getting through tight spots but other than that they work great. For trail riding you can't beat it. It is hands down the most comfortable machine I have ever been on. After you have spent some time on a good running 250r you will be hooked for life.

What are you sorry about? lol! You are going to be the one riding it, so just stick with what your gut tells you, and you should be able to find a good deal.

It depends on what kind of woods you are riding in to tell if it is good or not. If you are just riding across easy paths and hills with good runs, it would be a nice bike. If there are hills with no runs to kick in the powerband you'll lose power and not make it.(at least not very easy)
