    225 dx rear axle

Alright my brother just bought a 225 dx and we finally got it running and it has a clanking in the rear/drive shaft like the previous owner told us about, we are trying to pull the rear axle out to see what's broke or wrong but can't get the axle out... we have the brakes, jam nuts and hubs off bit the axle will not come out. Anything we are missing? or what is the right way to pull it?

    Thanks

Take the bolts out of the differential cover and use a block of wood and a to try and whack it out. Ring gear might be galded to the axle.

if you are talking about the splined , spring loaded pinion shaft, that is only about 4" long and held in with a left handed threaded cap, I wish you luck in your search they are a hard part to find.
but this might interest you, for potential usable parts. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1986-Yamaha-...0f1aac&vxp=mtr
rectum nothin damn near killed them

thanks i was wondering if i could take a 4 moto shaft and simply turn the spring and gear to the other side? i took a part the one that was broke in hopes to use my 225 dr parts to fix it but it was a no go... the original once taken apart the spring is held on by retainers like a valve spring so im hoping the 4 moto is the same
