    250r compatability

Greetings everyone. New member here. looking for some information regarding aftermarket items that fit well on the 85 250r. Mainly looking for info on 85 -87 250r motors. Also whats the recomended reed upgrade? Looking to focus more on the low to mid rpms without spending so much on a built motor

    Here's what I like-

    http://www.carbontech.com/atv/honda.html

Because you want low to mid.

Use the 107LT, which stands for- light tension

Those in a stock cage will work great!

Engine-wise, almost everything with the liquid cooled 250r engines interchange.

'85 had a different CDI than all the rest, and the later quad engines had a clutch actuator upgrade.

Aside from that, pretty much anything that can be done to a TRX engine can be done to your '85.. Exhaust being the obvious exception.
    Trikes:
    '85 ATC 350R
    '85 ATC 250R
    '86 ATC 350X
    '85 ATC 350X
    '84 ATC 200ES Big Red
    '84 ATC 125M
    '85 ATC 110
    '85 ATC 70/110

Thats what I was looking for. But say I fofound a 87 trx motor and wanted to put it on my 85. Would I run into any known issues. I read somewhere the gearing on 87 was shorter

The 85-89 liquid r atc/trx have the same cases.I think you are right about the gearing. The trx motors will work fine in the atc.87-89 have a long rod crank wich will work in the 85-86 atc but you will need the 87-89 style piston aswell.
