Why does my YT175 stall when I put it in 1st from an idle it stalls? I'm thinking clutch plates, but I don't really know.

Why does my YT175 stall when I put it in 1st from an idle it stalls? I'm thinking clutch plates, but I don't really know.

Do you have a service manual yet? Your clutch may need to be adjusted, or you might need to raise your idle a little. When you put the machine in gear at idle, the idle speed should drop slightly, but is should still idle in gear. If the trike hasn't been run in years, the clutch pack could be seized up due to lack of oil circulation, but I would say this is less likely.

Oh, one other thing. This is important. When I push the trike and put it in gear and hop on it runs good.
