    Big red side panel differences

    Just a quick question,I have 2 different 250 big red left side plastic covers and one has a grove near the starter that looks factory and one does not.I am just wondering if the difference could be due to year or maybe its aftermarket.The one with the grove is on an 86 while the other one is on an 85,thanks.

    Yes, you are correct in thinking it is the year difference Cameron.. I have seen the 86/87 modle covers and can not figure out why the groove is in there,,, clearance of the starter really did not appear to be any issue imo.
    Where's the 85 models is concerned,,,, no groove.

    Thanks for the response,I guess it might have been changed due to the starter melting the plastic? although I agree with you and think there is enough clearance.Anyway it is only a minor detail that i was curious about.Once again thanks for confirming my speculation.
