    225DX Timing Chain

Had the 225DX out yesterday, and I'm getting quite a lot of noise from the engine. It's rattle-y and I'm thinking it must be the timing chain. I get a little intimidated by engine internals, so I was wondering how big a job this is? I know that's pretty subjective, depends on the person, but I'd like to hear from anyone who's done it. Do I have to replace sprockets, chain guides, tensioner, etc? Just looking for recommendations.

Did you try adjusting it first? That took the noise away from mine. I've taken it all apart to put the chain back on after a rebuild and it wasn't terribly hard. You have to take the recoil, stator cover, and the magneto off. Honestly the hardest part is removing the bolts without stripping the heads on them or breaking them off. As for your questions about what to replace that all depends on how it looks. All mine looked fine, and I would assume yours should be as well. Good luck to you.
