    So who knows what this mod was for on the 200x back in the day for racing?

    keep your boot from rubbing paint off the stator cover from shifting?

    Just my guesetamation,,, so rider did not haft screw around moving his boot from on top or on bottom for shifting.
    Of course a bolt would be in one of those holes per rider preference.

    We used them to keep the shifter from being punched in under where you couldn't use it. Never broke a case amazingly enough...
    Please help those who cannot help themselves.

    Good answers, it was so when you were going in to a corner hard like this and you foot was bent over like this you wouldn't push the shifter under the case keeping you from up shifting coming out of a corner.
