    83-84 250r aftermarket carb options

Hello I'm trying to come up with a carb that is compatible and still available for an 83-84 with 165lbs of compression

The carb you choose is not a matter of compression. For the second generation 250R you could pick anything from a 34mm to 38mm carb. The rule of thumb is the smaller the carb the more bottom end, the larger the carb the more top end. So, if you do a lot of slow trail riding the best bet would be a 34mm. If you do a lot of high speed dirt roads, go with the 38mm. People generally like Keihin PWK over the Mukini TM. The general consensus is that Keihin is easier to jet and less susceptible to temperature changes.

I'm partial to a Keihin pj34 from an 86 250r. Great improvement over the stock carb and easily found on eBay. Stock jetting is usually pretty close too. I had one on a stock 83 with a pipe and it ran great.
