225 DR. Just got it-how bad is it?

Picked up a Yamaha 225 DR last night. Noticed a few odd things like there doesn't seem to be an upper engine mount? The guy I bought it from thought that maybe the same engine was used for multiple models and it's just not used on this one. I don't see anywhere on the frame that the mount would attach to. Is this normal? Also on the rear end there are 2 threaded holes that have nothing in them; again is this normal? Over all the trike is in rough shape. I was between this one and a nicer DX but went with this one for the reverse. It does run but needs some maintenance done it.

    Motor mount question:

    Threaded holes on the rear:

Is there supposed to be a cable on the decompression lever?

I don't think its all that bad. I can tell it sat out in the rain or was in a very high moisture area. I have 2 225drs. I can take some pics if you like. It may take me a couple of days being busy with the kids. Yamaha 225dr is my absolute favorite trike and I've had many and ridden them all.

What did you pay for it?

There is supposed to be an engine mount up top there. The guy is correct it was used for multiple years, but they all had mounts. The threaded hole on the swing arm is for a hitch. As for the decompression cable the 225's did not have them. You just have to flip it by hand if you choose to use it.

Thanks. Do you have any pics of the mount? I'm we wondering if this is the correct frame. I don't even see any remnants of the mount.

I'm leaning towards it being a 200ern motor or head.

Do the ern's have reverse? This definitely does have reverse.

I took a picture but I don't think it will be very helpful. The mount goes under the tank, it's like a tri angle with one bolt connecting the top of the head to the frame. Without removing the tank it's hard to get a clear picture.

To see if it is a dr or ern motor you can check the vin number or on the reverse lever side of the cylinder you should see how many cc's the cylinder is.
