    Honda 350X BAJA/Racing build #2

    Honda 350X BAJA/Racing build #2

This trike is owned by Oscar Mayer, I am only building it in my shop in Arizona, Mike is building a 350X BAJA/Racing #1 trike in Texas.

That thread can be found here-
    http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthr...a-race-buildup

Special Thanks to- My Wife who I never seen, Mike and his son Austin, Billy Golightly for this great forum, and the wonder forum members that have been interested in our crazy projects.

I am a 2-stroke guy at heart, having raced many 250R's, occasionally a Tri-Z and a few Tecate's. I do know 4-strokes and raced a 200X, but never a 350X and I didn't see very many at the track back in the day, which makes building a full blown 350X a ton of fun!

I have also raced/built TRX250R's, LT250R's and more bikes than I can remember.

This trike will be adjustable for anything from MX, GP's and desert/BAJA with a few tweaks and a different set-up.

The theme will be 2015 technology on a vintage 350X, we could have used a Honda CRF450 and converted it, but NORRA would not let us race it in their events. Plus, I love vintage/nostalgia!

My 1965 Pontiac "GTO" project was removed from my shop and put in storage because of the lack of room. (Which is complete other than body work, a few small details and a windshield)

None of these forks will be used on this trike, it will have something much, much larger and adjustable from 10" to 12" (They can be adjusted for less than 10" as well)

    Details to be revealed...later.

This trike can from the San Francisco, CA. area and it has alot of rust, rot and damage from the salt.

It's not much fun taking it apart and I am going though CLR and WD40 by the gallon!

The stock front and rear fender are in nice shape and the seat is ok, my guess is those piece were inside somewhere and the rest of the trike was stored outside, the paint is also really faded in places that would normally be covered.

The shock is rotted by salt, I tried to bleed it and the valve cap was welded on and twisted right off below the stem on the bladder cap, the shock shaft is pitted and rusty, thankfully we are not using 90 percent of the 350X shock, plus I have two spares.

both trikes are being done identical with a few minor exceptions to the actual "race" model over the #2 which will be more for pre-runs and backup of parts as needed.
Milner has been awesome in all his help and assistance and we are having a great time hashing things out each night on ideas and stuff on what to do with each detail. we discuss everything from skid plate thicknesses to custom rear master cylinder mounts. my son gets board listening to us at times LOL poor kid! we have been known to be on the phone for hours! haha good times!

Baja#1 is about to be ready for the final stages of frame work and then assembly. Baja #2 (here) is just slightly behind.

The trikes will have true blue spray painted frames at least until testing is completed, so they can be checked for cracks and altered or added to if needed.

Powder coating or plating may be added later, I prefer spray paint on full blown race trikes/bikes.

^ yea i agree. after talking about it, i think your idea of painted is way better as we will always end up having to redo stuff and why coat only to ruin it when we can patch the area after with paint?

Plus when we put the turbo and fuel injection unit on later, we will have to weld in some mounts.
