Looking to find the paint code for the silver frame paint.
Colorite.com does not list it and they said they could match It if they had the 3 digit paint code.
Any suggestion?
Not looking to powder coat.
Thanks.

If you go to your local Kawasaki dealer they can probably provide you with a name or number. I had a question about the frame color on my 86 Tri-Z and the dealer identified it for me. For those with a red Z, the frame color is Chappy Red and ColorRite sells it.
if he does not have a listing for the KXT ask if he has one for the 1986 KX125/250/500, they also had the silver painted frame that year

Thanks Barnett,
Do you know if they used a primer on the frame and on other silver painter parts?
I was told they didn't but everywhere I read that you must use a primer.
Would you say the paint is semi-gloss or gloss?
Thanks for the help!

Your very we!come . . I never saw primer on a frame there but for the best job that will last the longest, I would use one . . the paint is a bit transparent also so I would use a light gray color primer . . I would also use a high quality epoxy type . . sand the frame with dry 320 yellow or white paper designed for paint and body work . . basic wet dry paper will work for the frame also.
After the primer is on I would use 400 then gray scotch brite.
The orig paint was single stage with no clear and it was more of a semi gloss than a gloss . . it looked as though it was around 10% flattened.
I would clear it to protect it or use two stage . . you can flatten the clear if you can't find semi gloss.
Thanks, I will let you know how it turns out.
Hold your horses there Turbo. I've been searching the forum for an answer, as this question has been asked quite a bit. But in all of the threads I found, phantom has found them as well, and posted in them. Still no answer has surfaced on an actual paint code from Kawasaki. Lots of members have found substitutes that look good to them, but are they exact matches, or just close enough for their tastes? It all depends on how authentic you need it to look.

The colorite is expensive. I am going to bring the swing arm to shirwin-Williams automotive store and have them match it up. Or buy the colorite touch up to test it out
