I completely agreed on your first post to the word. This I disagree with. I have been using tire plugs since I was a kid, and that was a couple decades ago. I use them in everything. My pickup has on board air and a plug kit in it at all times and many times, even once in Indiana, I just rip out the screw, ream the hell out of it, and jam the plug in. In the 20ish years I have been using tire plugs in all kinds of different applications, I have never ever had an issue with even one. Obviously they're not made for side walls, but they will certainly fix your side wall puncture or even a tear enough to get you where you need to go and then some in a pinch. I've seen yahoos run sidewall plugs for a lot longer than to just get them out of the woods, haha.
