    Straight outta Compton Reviews

I saw it over the weekend. Anyone have an input?

I give it an 8 out of 10.

Filled in a lot of blanks or ideas I had.

Rap did get a lot of heat, but it's some of the best music if you ask me. I'm a heavy metal guy from about 14 yrs old. When I heard Gansta Rap and those lyrics and some of that stuff was super funny It just grew on me. Now I like it even more. The best part of the movie was how much fun they had making that music. You can just get the sense that it one of the best times in their lives. It's not so gasta that it's crappy to watch or the sex/ violence or racist BS stuff is too much. It's really conservative if you ask me. All very talented. Yeah they aren't angels and they did some bad , but that's just life. Lots of people do bad things.

saw it last night, awesome movie, it kinda shows why 3 or 4 of the real people are currently dead by gang/criminal activity and shows another side to how they actually operated

I saw it yesterday too. It was pretty much spot on. I was only about 7 when I heard some of their songs when my parents transplanted me into a school was I was 1 of 4 white kids so this is the music i took to not knowing anything else until many years later. So much of that movie hit home.

    Finally saw this last night.

I thought it was a good movie overall. The dude that played Eazy and Cube's son playing him were my two favorite.

I really didn't get that 'whitey sucks' and 'crime pays' overtones from it that a couple of my friends did or the Feminazis claiming it glorified sexism or was overtly slut shaming. Seemed like the story of two groups of friends who were connected and they grew up wanting a better life than childhood Compton had provided so they came together to produce one of the most influential groups of that era and fathered gangster rap. Then an endless parade of ppl of all races proceeds to drive a wedge between them all out of greed and power lust until their bonds are nearly shattered. By the time they all realize they made a deal with the devil Heller/Knight/ Brian its too late and those guys have said things they can't take back. When they make the effort to reunite, its just too late.

Seemed more like a tragic coming-of-age movie to me with gangsta rap, race issues, crack dealing, police brutality, and banging "ho's" was merely part of the plot setting and not the theme of the movie.

Where did you see it? It never made it down here and I can't find it on Netflix.
