I don't think it would be hard especially if you have done something like this before. It wouldn't handle the same a dirt bike but for $50 who cares! I would definitely go for it.

what year is it. in th 80's and early 90's they were pure street. kinda like a honda rebel.. mine was an 93 gn 125. the sp125 and dr 125 all use the same motor. i also had a 87 sp125. i had constant problems out of the heads on both of them. if you ran them hard they wouldnt get enough oil in the head and the cam would cut through the head like butter. it took me almost ten years after that to buy another suzuki.

oh yeah. when the cams would start getting bad you usaully would send a valve through the piston. happened twice.

it depends on what size you are. when i had mine i was 15 years old. about 5'10" and 140lbs. i was disapointed. i could not keep up with my friends in there 2 stroke 80cc. but they were quiet and very good on fuel. is the bike taken apart. it burning a hole in the piston is very unlikely. i would dfinatly check it out. for $50.00 you cant go wrong. if you have to split the cases to get nything out that is a pain. but the piston is not that hard. just make sure you mark the cam chain before taken it and do not let it fall into the crankcase cause that sucks.. if you havnt opened up a four stroke before the $50.00 will be worth the experiance. more parts, more expensive but i love them.

if the head is already off it is to late to mark the chain. you will have to put it on tdc and if i remember correctly there is a dot on the cam gear and it should point up.but in many cases the mark on the cam gear is worn off by chain slap. unless they keep the timing chain adjusted frequently.
