What's a good replacement shop for 85 250 big red

I have a thread on from about 1 year plus ago with me trying different rear shocks for bigred.
I don't quite recall what all I bolted on but none of them was any better then the stock shock.
I was looking for something more forgiving but came to the conclusion that untill I added a pro link type of set up, nothing in the reasonably-priced used stock shock department was going to work at its full capacity.
I ended up changing machines for a better ride so my back would nag at me less
