Carb help i think!

So i'm new to this 85 350x i picked up and the old crappy carb that was on it, the float keep sticking and fuel would just run out. So i bought a new carb it a

Replaces stock OEM Carburetor 400ex Performance
Accelerator Pump
Main Jet # 148
Pilot Jet # 38
Air Jet # 110
Needle Set # V284

Problem is that i have to chock the crap out of this thing to get it to start and then it pops and backfires out the carb. So i know that is to lean but how do i adjust it? Witch screw and in or out ? need to know for all settings not just pilot!
