OEM first, Ricky Stator second, but I have never tried RM to be fair.

Now that's a different world and you will lose your headlight without further custom mods.

I love both, but IMHO the CR ignition set-up is the best ever used on a bike, trike or quad so I give it the lean.

What are you looking to do with this motor?, these set-ups are not for everyone and can hurt performance for some riders or set-ups.

the motoplat in my Rotax had no spark when i tested it today, i think a PVL is my only real option so gonna start researching them

and horror stories about them to share?

No, the PVL's are excellent I am just a OEM guy, especially a OEM Honda CR guy plus the PVL's don't have a lot of flywheel effect which doesn't work well for some riders, with the CR set-up you can add different flywheel weights if needed/wanted.

I ran PVL's in Rotax engines, along with Motoplat's with zero issues.

You may want to check with- http://www.pentonracingproducts.com/index.shtml I believe they still sell parts and fix Motoplat's since they stopped building ignitions in 1993.

I will mostly use it for sand and ice has 310 kit in it ran great until I put a Janssen coil in it and might have burnt out stator? Not sure test bad and don't run with stock coil either.
