Everyone loves Socialism. All the way up until they learn two very fundamental things about human nature:
1) No two people put equal effort into any task no matter how simple. Someone will always try harder than someone else and this is where notions of 'equality' fail from jump. Hard to have equality when some folks don't give a damn to work for it. Anyone who has ever been a manager in business understands this. No amount of guilt or shame will move some people. I'm not talking about ability. I'm talking exclusively about inclination..this brings me to number two.
2) even the inclined folks will only work hard for so long running on positive verbal reinforcement alone before they are either going to require some sort of reward system of more than an "attaboy" from the Mother Land for their sweat and toil or they are going to vastly reduce their own productivity to match that of everyone else....de-evolution...how quaint. A very similar example has been flying in the collective face of the Left for a very long time but they refuse to acknowledge this truth. What you end up with is a Collective of Mediocrity if you're lucky and a failed Communist Nation State if you're not. I'll suggest the quality of Russian and Chinese hardware produced during the cold war as an example of what your GDP physically looks like when your labor force gives no F@#$KS about their assigned jobs.
I wouldn't worry about your kid, Nico, and I'm sure you aren't. Theres nothing wrong with children liking Santa Claus. Its the grown adults who vote for him for political office that chaps my ass.
From each according to his ability, to each according to his need is the Communist mantra. The inconvenient part is whom determines someone else's ability or someone's need?.....better yet , who is going to pay for all this equality? Its funny to me whenAmericans think that you can have all the trappings and whizzbangs of good old American Consumerism while partaking in European Socialism or Communism....because that sh!t just falls off trees, right?

I LOVED Metropolis (film). Reminded me of a precursor to the old Flash Gordon episodes.
Interesting question on that subject Clint. I'm going to go look that up.

metropolis- classic dystopian flick.
And you all can't get a jury of your peers because a dozen common people might agree with your common sense.
Oh and I find all the double speak I am hearing come out of the media and being regurgitated very disturbing and unbelievable.
1984. A lot of computer acts were passed that year, more than ever before. Most regarded peoples' personal data and who could access what computers. That book about the screens in every home that spy on you and are all connected together to send and receive communications. Clearly Orwell was very keen on how the technology of radio, telephone, and televsion would be used in the future.

I would love to say "come on down" Coolpool, but the truth is, we are on the same path, just a little behind...
Maybe we should have a joint rebellion with our good friends to the north?? Eh??
And once again I have to say, the level of intelligence, awareness, and ability to make solid points in well spoken ways I see here on a board full of a bunch of 3-wheeler nuts is still pleasantly amazing to me... I'll have to make TF soon, even if only to speak on these subjects with you guys face to face around a campfire.
Y'all are good respectable folks, and I would be proud to march into oblivion with any of you!
