Freshly rebuilt 185s, having oil issues

    Hey guys

I tore down the top end of my newly acquired 1983 185s since compression was shot. Rebuilt it with stock size piston rings, a honed cylinder, and new gaskets. Motor runs great no smoking and sounds great. Replaced two gaskets and big o ring on the cdi. My only problem is oil leak from bottom of cdi cap. Drips about ever 2-4 secs, any ideas where to look is appreciated

    Thanks
    Herb

Sounds like the seal in the rear half of the CDI case, where the snout of the camshaft comes through. Take the cover off and look behind the advance mechanism to see if its wet in there. Cut & pasted from Partzilla:

If you read my whole post, I never called it the CDI, but rather the CDI case. I apologize if that didn't get the point across adequately, I figured "where the snout of the camshaft comes through" pretty much summed it up. It made sense in my head.
