    18" or 20" or 22" Rear tires?

    So as the Auto-X project moves forward, I am looking at new tires, I have a new front, now I need rears, I like to look of the 18" and will be buying new rear sprockets for whatever size I chose. My question is would a 20" Knobby like a turf Tamer offer better cushining for a plush ride? This is not a racer just a put-around build. I am looking at the 18" Artex - R (2 ply) or a 20' Knobby (Also 2 ply) I have a new swing arm skid that should reduce my need for ground clearance (RPM Products). Input?
    Also I will be running the Auto bottom of an 200e that has an 11 tooth front (Not able to change) if I go with an 18" tire, I will be running between a 35-32 tooth rear sprocket. Bad idea or OK?

    artrax 20" tires only measures 19". I would just use that. They are 4ply and have nice open lugs to go thru about anything.

    if you are that concerned about ride comfort, and you won't be sliding the thing then tire appearance is irrelevnt . . yes, the taller the tire, the more comfy it will ride if all else is the same.

    the taller the tire the more it will try to roll in a turn which wont matter if you are not trying to slide it.

    the more plies it has, the firmer it will ride and the less it wil try t roll over in a turn.

    the farther apart the lugs are, the slightly rougher it can ride.

    the lower the air pressure, the easier it will try to roll but the more comfy it will ride

    for maximum comfyness and lowest performance, buy a 2 ply, 20" with a close lugs and a slightly round profile and test air pressure.

    another advantage of a taller tire is the ground clearance you gain for the sprocket and brakes, very important if you ride in rocky areas and why you always see the guys racing the desert races using stock 250R size rears

    You should beable to change the front sprocket. The 200x front sprocket will fit and you can get up to a 14 tooth possibly 15 tooth. When I changed my 84 200x to a 14 front I put my stock 12 on my 83 auto x But Im using a 185s motor. Im not real familiar with the 200e does this have the hi/lo range.Also a 22 in rear in my opinion would be best for all around riding.

    Yes; the 200e has the Hi/Low range, PITA reqarding grinding the 200x frame. I also have a complete 200s lower and 200x lower so I may just see if I can move the electric start to the 200s bottom end from the 200e, that would fix the sub-trans issue. I was able to find an online dealer that will still make a custom rear sprocket for the 200x in almost any size. That may be the easiest route but I have never been know to take the easy route (That being said maybe I need to keep the Lo range).

    Skid reduces clearance.. Bigger tires will help get it back.. 20's minimum. 18's are for photo shoots, racing on tracks, maintained roads, and doing donuts in your yard. 18's on a trail will bang the skid on everything.. Especially with a wide axle. 22's are for real trail machines that will see stumps, roots, ruts, rocks,etc.. 20's are a good compromise for most, but what works for someone else may not work for you. Many "trail" riders are really just sightseers on roads...

    I agree, I love the looks of 18's & 20's but I don't think I could go back unless I was racing..

    The comment about the skid was more to say that I will have some protection as apposed to having the drive chain play chainsaw all day. I couldn't decide so I just ordered 18" Artrax mxt-r, 20" knobby, and 22" knobby to try them all out. Also ordered more rims and hubs for quick swaps. I will update.

    what kind of riding are you doing? trail riding? Cheetahs are the best. MX, go with 18" and then it is up to you what your looking for as far as rear end movement. I like turf tamers from ITP and I like MAXXIS Razor MX is what my son runs on his mid quad with the 90cc 2-stroke.

    My riding is to putt from my land down about 1 mile of gravel road, then about 1/4 mile of groomed dirt trail, then onto the beach. I will be moving slow; I will be followed by my wife on the Big red pulling a trailer for the cooler, chairs, and radio, and my son on the 125cc ATC 110. When I arrive at the river there is a 100 ft wide by 1/4 mile long beach of sand. I will meander around this area briefly until I shut down the ATC to partake in the beverages in the sun. I realize this is not as extreme as some of you ride but I have entered the phase in my life where I like to take my time and enjoy the day. I may get crazy and it a bit from time to time but this is really just for show and in short bursts (To keep the kid in his place).

    If your just putting around just get some nice 22 inch nobbie tire. It will be close to what came on the bike when it was new and they will ride the best as well. nobbues are perfectly capable at going crazy sometimes.

    The Artrax MXT-R Rear Tires just got delivered ($80 shipped - DEAL), the 20' and 22" knobby tires have not arrived yet. I just ordered 6 beadlocks for them as well to get them all mounted as well as found 4 more hubs so I can just pull the center bolt to swap tires. I like the cheetah tires, may have to grab a set of those as well and put the 20' Knobbies on the ATC110 when they get here. Man; I thought my old jeep was a money pit.
