What wire guage for custom build?

Instead of splicing together an atc200x wireing harness and an atc200e wiring harness I am going to just build one from scratch I am eliminating the headlight and tail light so I think I can eliminate the lighting coil (or just leave it in and not connected) I am also deleting the stock switch and running a simple single run switch, separate kill switch on a tether and separate starter button for the electric starter hidden under the tank. Would 10 guage be sufficient for everything except the battery to starter lead and grounded leads?

10 gauge copper should be fine... May even be little overkill but really the heavier gauge the better and safer it's going to be

10 gauge is huge!!!!! Most oem wiring harnesses are 16-20 gauge or maybe even smaller. When I built the lighting harnesses for my and my friends dirtbikes, I used 14 or 16 for most of it, brake lights were 18 and so was switches for the radiator fan.

10 gauge is fine if you plan to run a portable welder, otherwise 14 gauge is the max size i would use and you could easily get by with 16 if you prefer.

the alternator already has wires attached which are attached to a plug . . i would use the same size wires it has or nothing smaller than the next size down for the wires that plug into that harness.
