    350X engine swap- 2 stroke?

    350X engine swap- 2 stroke?

I have been helping out on a couple of 200X builds using a 2 stroke CR125 engine, so I was goofing around in the shop and put a incomplete (For now, have parts) CR250 engine in a 350X.

Well it fits just fine, but it will not lay down correctly without cutting off the bottom mounts, tons of room.

Note- I am just goofin in the shop, but once BAJA #2 is done, I may mod a spare frame and hook up the forks and rear end and give it a try.

The CR engine is just a bit smaller & lighter.

Looks like you could fit pretty much any motorcycle/atv motor in those bones. ATCr250x??? Should be a fun machine.

That engine, whichever chassis it may up in was courtesy of Mr. Ironchop and it may end up 300cc & about 55HP.

It is close, it was on the "Pay it forward" thread and I paid only shipping. I am searching for a 1985-86 250r frame with title to build a MX/SX trike, there are a bunch of guys out here racing MX most weekends that I want to play around with. I just dropped 15 lbs. and getting in better shape my 42 year old MX knees are holding me back a bit, I have a few joints that sound like the tin man and a few cats call me the tin man...LOL I can all most tie my own shoes!

My 85 year old Grandfather laughs at me, he says you should have just tuned and not raced, he is a sick tuner.

I have a RMZ 250 engine that I was thinking about doing the same thing. There seems to be plenty of room for the engine, but its the radiators that I have doubts on. Plus the fact that it is a 250cc four stroke so I'm not sure if I'd be gaining anything of the old 350 engine. It is a lot more compact and lighter though.

ld like to see you build a trike with a cr 250 motor. In either 350x or 250r frame.Mx on a trike or quad is easyer on the knees than on a bike .I think its awsome you young guys are getting into racing again.Im 52 and I ache less than I did in my 30s and 40s.

Lots of room in a 350X frame for most other motors.

Just the exhaust is sometimes an issue...

I'd go for it ! I think I would go after a cr500 and call it good ! the exhaust pipe would be the easy job !
