You need to start eliminating potential issues. Do you have a shop manual and DVM?
I would start with the stator/flywheel first.
If you need the testing specs let me know.
Not big on electrical stuff, how do I test the stator?
All you need is a multimeter
This should work, don't forget a visual inspection might be all you need to tell if it's bad.

Thanks, so from what I can see the coil and stator read good....what's next?
Check to see if the stator if producing voltage when you kick it over.
Bad stators are a VERY common problem on Tecates, just do a search and you'll see. I have 3 Tecates and have had to buy multiple stators over the years. By the way, just because you get a spark doesn't mean the stator is okay. It may be a weak spark. It needs to spark when the stator is hot (which increases resistance) and under the high pressure of the cylinder. You can buy new coils from Ricky Stator for around $50 but you will have to solder them onto your old stator plate.
Stator is bad.....................and you can just replace the primary coil(s) and not the lighting coil if that worked or you if you dont have a headlight. They jacked up the coil prices...People sometimes complain the timing marks are not right on the Ricky stator plates. And if you put the coil on yourself and solder it, USE LOCTITE on the coil bolts.

Red-title or blue-tite ?
I know red-tite has to be heated to release it.
Turns out the coil was faulty!
