    73-74 atc 70 questions

I'm going to look at a 74 atc 70 this weekend and have a couple questions. Main question is, are the 73-74 model engines different from the 80-85 models? Of so how much does that knock down the value of said machine? It looks mostly complete, but it is a basket case. Any insight on this particular model would be appreciated. Thanks!

If its a 73 its valuable, 74 is aswell. But its a completely different animal than a 79-85. Im not a big fan of atc 70s. I know the recoils are different. 73-74 is thin and 79-85 are thick, 73-81 are 3 speed, 82-84 is 4 down and 85 is 4 up.

Don't expect a ton of parts available for the 73-74, totally different animals. I've known a couple of people that have collected parts for years to try and build one. If not the original engine, not worth much money. Trust me, the more complete the trike the better.

I understand that they are hard to find parts for and that the 73-74 are completely different. The pictures he sent me are hard to decipher, and it appears that he has two bottom ends and a roached top end. The plastic is in good shape, and the gas tank is in good overall shape, n9t minty but it does have a nice patina to it. They guy really knows nothing about it, so it's kind of hard to get real info from him. He's an hour away, wish it was Warner so I could blast over to look at it on my bike. I'll try to post some pictures he sent me tomorrow. Thanks for the info so far guys.

Here are 2 cruddy pictures the,guy sent me. Says there are lots more parts, he is not sure what all he has however. To be honest I don't have time for another project currently, and would plan on cleaning it up, figuring out what all is there and re-selling it. Wether it be whole or,in parts. Pictures dont do much good to see what is all there, and he's 2 1/2 hrs away. Anyone in the DeMotte indiana area?

If you pay VERY little for it I guess you could give it another chance or at the very least part it out. Plan on some serious cash to make it pretty if that's your plan. If memory serves me correct, the tough parts to get are the seat pan, rear shield, exhaust shield and the correct rubber foot pegs. From the look of the rust on the gas tank seam I wouldn't be surprised if it leaks. Does it have a good exhaust? If the pull start is missing that can run $100+ alone.

He said he will load it in my truck for 150$. Problem is is that my museum is getting full! Real full! I had a 74 before and sold it and have regretted it ever since. I just don't have the time right now for another full blown resto job. If anyone is interested I can send you his phone #.

$150 seems very reasonable. I'm sure someone on here will get it.
