Duning on knobbies--suggestions

Glamis rider, 85 250r. Stock tires are worn---so time for new shoes. Was thinking about paddles but with my riding style decided to stick to knobbies.
To forum: Best knobby for sand??? Logic tells me to look for a tight tread pattern---more knobs grab more sand--better traction. But, I've read some posts that suggest the opposite---more open tread pattern--allows tire to float and clean sand out. Anyone have experience riding dunes with both tread patterns??
Tires I'm considering: ITP Holeshot GNCC, Maxxis Razr 2, Duro Hook-up Radial.
The Duro has the most open tread pattern. The Maxxis looks to be less rounded. The ITP looks to be a combo of the other 2.
Others I should consider??

A few weeks ago I took all my knobbies to Glamis to buff tires to look new again and glad i did not ride more than what i had too on knobbies.
But this was my experience with knobbies you are revving engine more than you have too so just be careful not to wind up to moon but if you must ride with knobby tires just make sure you get good head start and get some momentum going so you don't over rev that engine good luck, Mike.

I like the radial tire Ohtsu MR501. The TRX 450R's also have a similar tread pattern in the Dunlop brand. I also prefer knobs to paddles it suits my style of riding as well.

Was the video around Gordon's Well? I've not ridden there. Looks like good riding area.

I like the stock 250R knobbies in either Dunlop or Ohtsu brand but neither are available new.

I remember we ran the Armstrong dimple knobbies alot back in the 80s. I can't find a 20x10x9 size thought. Looks like Wanda makes some and I believe many others (Hi-Run?). Probably all come off the same production line in China...

I see the 501's pop up on EBAY, they are a little pricey but worth it in my opinion. I would also suggest contacting your local Honda dealer and ask for 400ex or 450r rear tires in the model and have them search. I have been able to get the front 10 inch tire for custom made 10 rims for ATC's as they are still available.

Yes that is Gordons Well, it is some of the best riding in the US.

I would stick with the 3+5, no need for crazy offset. If you want to go wider get an axle. I prefer the .190 Douglas rim, or the OEM style rim. I would not worry about the minimal extra weight with the thicker Douglas rim.

It would be great to see more folks join the ride, its a good time and you will see quite a few VERY nice trikes.

So far as the shock, you have a few options. You can get them rebuilt, there are quite a few places you can send them that have been in business for a while all over the country. Some google searches will give you quite a bit of information. There are also individuals on this site who rebuild them as well (do a search), and you probably have some local places, most motorsports shops can do the work. You can also buy them off EBAY as well, as you may know you can buy almost anything on EBAY. Prices will vary I am sure.
