    Kawi 160 help!

So I got good deal on this KLT160 and have since found out that its rare and hard to find parts for... I only paid 75$ so I am ok with spending a few bucks to get it going. I am wondering what site you guys suggest for a carb rebuild kit ? The carb is a VM22SS Its gunked up badly and the seals are all dryed out. I also need an air box and I noticed it doesn't have a choke but it has a small round pull knob on the carb that opens and closes a small port, is that the choke ? I only have a yamaha 125 and Im not to familiar with the different designs, the yama has a choke cable like a mower, anyway Thanks!

Unfortunately you are out of luck on a carb rebuild kit, going to have to work with what you have or find another used carb. Having trouble remembering how the choke looks on the carb but stock it is run to a cable.

Yea, if I remember right the klt160 was a single year production. I wonder if a carb from another machine could be matched up to it though.

If you happen to need a wire harness, I hand reproduce them for this model $45 + $3 shipping. My ebay listing has the best photos http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-1985-Kaw...e=STRK:MESE:IT

Sadly I don't have any other parts for that machine .

Try a looking at a carb from a klt or klf 185. From a quick search of partzilla.com the klt160 carburetor shares a lot of parts with the klt/klf 185/200/and some with the 220 bayou(gaskets, jets, float). I'm not 100% but its worth a shot. Or you could try to order each individual part from kawasaki and hope that it they are discontinued.

There are new (chinese copy) klf 185 carburetors on ebay for $76. The only thing you might have to do is convert it from a remote operated choke to a lever type on the carb.

Do you think the Jets would be the same? Or maybe I could swap in my jets I guess if I had to. I'm also trying to figure out where the choke used to be on this,it has a little pull knob but it's not like any choke I've seen.

Ok thanks Ps2 my wires seem like they are good, yeah this wheeler was only made for one year, turning into a lot harder of a project the. I thought but I might get lucky.

I took the carb all apart and soaked the parts over night, I'm going to try to get up all put back together today and see what happens but I'm still a little stumped on the choke thing, I also don't have a link air box or filter for it.

The main and pilot jets should be similar if not the same. At least close enough to get you running. The main ( on your 160 carb) should be #105 to #115 and the pilot should be #20 or #22.5.

Partzilla.com shows those jet numbers being shared with the klt/klf 185

Well thats not the original carburetor. If it were me I would buy a new carb. You might be able to get that one working on that klt but I have always found it easier to start from a baseline with stock parts.
