    My question is this:

Once the minimum wage is raised to above poverty level, doesn't that mean no more health care subsidies? Because they are going to shyte when they get their new bill in the mail.

I know it DOES mean unemployment, higher prices to offset labor cost across the board, and basically just shifts the poverty level up to $31K once inflation and the price hikes settle down.

I predict this will be the future of all point of sale merchandising being computer vended.

What exactly is poverty level? And who makes that decision?

Most of the Wal-Mart's and the Home Depot in Laredo are 90% self Check Out. I hate it! They mess up all the time and then you stand there like an idiot waiting for someone to fix the machine while everyone in line behind you is glaring at you for breaking it.

In Mexico people volunteer to bag your stuff and offer to carry it to your car for tips. Too degrading for those North of the Rio Grand no doubt, but I like it. Is socialism the answer? Well, can we agree that nature is perfect? If so look at a bee hive or an ant hill. Not everyone gets to be queen, that's life.

    1) I'm not sure. I kept myself upwardly mobile all these years to avoid finding out. It was easy since I applied myself even a little bit.

    2) the people who "decide" are the same folks whose opinions on anything I neither trust nor respect

At this point in time I would say anyone without an iPhone, a 42" flat screen, cable or satellite hookup, a lap top or a tablet, Internet access, the latest Nike wear and the ability to stay high 24/7 and be able to afford Swisher Sweets, Doritos and Slurpee's whenever they don't feel like another meal at KFC or rotten Ronnie's without stealing from others is living at a level at or below poverty and needs your help.

If you object to this you are nothing but privileged white trash, so step up and do the right thing for everybody before Bernie has to do it for you.

Throw a couple of fatherless kids into the equation and a pet Rottweiler for the tax payers to raise and I'd say you've about nailed it!

Sorry to dis the dog, but someone has to protect the kids and the flat screen while momma's out turning tricks.

Have you ever seen the movie "Petting Zoo"? . I loved that one....but it really didn't have much of a premise, just two hot lookin chicks and a couple of farm animals...and subtitles for the hearing impaired.

Claro que si quey! Esta chingon! I wish they'd translate all Luis Estrada's movies to English for all to enjoy Have you seen La dictadura perfecta? You need to be up on the Mexican news to really enjoy it, but it speaks volumes about Mexican news and politics.

I get a kick out of these protestors here in Chicago.
Their argument is that they deserve it, they can't raise a family on what they make and that the company can afford it.
    #1. Deserve? Are you sure?
#2. It's not the company's fault. Those jobs aren't meant to get you a nice home in the suburbs in a good school district where you barbeque every Sunday with the neighbors.
#3. Yes the company can afford it. But the company's only obligation is to make the shareholders happy.

If they get their way I'm going to demand that I get a $7.75/hr raise too.

I recall some union "run" (that's another topic) companies will bump management the same or double what the unionized employees get when there is a general increase, but what you said goes beyond that. There is no way a guy making $15 or $20 now is going to stay at that wage if all the broom pilots are making $15 bucks. EVERYTHING with labor in it will go up equally within 6 months or less and that $20 per hour guy will either get a raise to maintain the standard of living he has EARNED, or someone else will scoop him up and bump his pay.

I'll guess that in 2 years or less the standard of living for anyone making minimum wage will be lower than it is today simply because they will be paying more fore goods and services, taxes and from what I've heard from some friends, they will be disqualified from certain government programs due to their higher income.

And what of the welfare types? If the cost of living goes up they will demand a bump too. Up go your taxes and you'll be needing that raise ASAP to stay in line with the Jones'

It's a joke. Invest in printing ink, their going to be printing a lot more money if Bernie wins.

Central "banking" (Fiat Currency Monopoly) is THE root of ALL these problems.....globally.

I'm part of the minority, as are quite a few dudes here, who realize that it ain't capitalism causing problems. Its the few who control it.

Some people, no matter their social caste, are incapable of long term, bigger picture type analysis. Whatever the heart wants, the heart votes for and gets. Damn the Future.
