82 200E question

This project is turning into a mess. I pulled the front suspension, after an hour of pulling squirting all kinds of whatever up and down. It was caked in mud. The pull starter still had water in it, with all kinds of corrosion. I really should have taken pics. This thing was caked with shavings and horse manure from dragging the horse arena. I can't believe it was ever maintained, at least not by these folks.
I am still trying to get the front axle off. bigger I guess.
Question is does this trike take any fluid in the front suspension? It doesn't look like it does but figured I'd check with you guys

no fluids in front.
axle, you loosen one side if the nuts and use a socket on a breaker to loosen shaft like a long bolt. not EZ to get off sometimes.

ATC king- Thanks for the good info. Apparently I am not alone with kind of a mess.

Oscarmayer - I am not sure what you mean. There is only a nut on one side of the front axle. I can get the nut off but the axle won't move. Been giving it doses of PB blaster and have tried the big with the castle nut on and doesn't move an inch.

Well, the one fork slider is off, not the brake side. So I think I'll raise the front end high enough to pull the other slider off. That side looks like it didn't get as rusted as this side without the brake. Assuming I get all this apart up front I will be using the same fork springs, etc. I have a set of bearings and seals for the axle. I'm hoping these will still work. As you can see in the pic, things got corroded. I plan on grinding the chrome rust on the forks. I will also put a good coat of grease on it all when I install it. That left side came out with lots of PB Blaster and an air getting to give enough to twist and pull out.

You need the sliders that go in the tubes . I think you can still get them . They helped mine , a little .

I don't know how I got 2 threads going, my apologies. By "sliders" do you mean the rubber part or the metal part that attaches to the wheel?

There are plastics inserts that go in the tubes , parts 10 @ 2 per side , and 11 . Looks like 11 is na . Thats what keeps the "slop" out of the tube . The other post was the carb post .

You might go ahead and get part 10 ( 4 total ) but if the distance collar gets tore up taking it apart ,, its out of stock . Chances are they are worn out .

I rebuilt an 82 that was missing the front axle. The front axles for the 82 are impossible to find used because of the issue you'e having. Its shorter than the 83 84 because the lower tubes on the 82 are just flat metal where the axle goes through. The 83 has reinforcement blocks welded in. It was easier to replace the lower tubes with those from an 83 and use an 83 front axle (with new OEM plastic inserts and fork boots). Came out like new. I still have a very nice 83 axle and a couple of those front fork springs laying around. Not sure on the condition of the springs.

Yea pretty much everything is interchangeable except the axle because of the width

I got the axle out finally, whew! I think it was hung up with rust on the right side. soaked it in evap-o-rust and smoothed out the corrosion. waiting on new brake shoes and seals for the brake shoe cam. The tires are crap and dry rotted. Getting them off the rim is a trip.
