OEM or Maier 85 250r fender. Can you tell?

To me these look like oldschool Maier but I'm no expert. I'm hoping they are OEM ones, if so I'll go buy them. Thanks! Click image for larger version.

Maier all day everyday. Run it, ride it. OEM is pointless unless you have a mint set on something your not going to ride.

Yeah turns out they are definately old school maier. Still a decent set but only wanted them if they were OEM, as I don't have a 250r at the moment. Thanks for your help.

Not all the oems have the raised lettering. I have a set that has them and a set that doesn't. The sure fire way to tell is look at the underside. The oems were injection molded so they will have a number witness marks made by the ejector pins in the mold. I've never counted them but there is more than a few, some will be round about 5/16 diameter and some will be elliptical shaped. Kinda uniform spacing from one side to the other. Sometimes the elliptical ones will have some grooves across them.

Thanks for that Bob, will be good to know for future. I wonder why Maier doesn't use the injection mould setup in the manufacture of their fenders.

Nearly anytime you find yourself asking why a manufacturer doesnt make something a certain way the answer is $

An injection mold that size would probably be around $500,000 to build, weigh around 7 or 8 tons and have to be run in a very large molding press costing another half a million dollars. It's a very expensive process designed to produce tens of millions of parts.

Makes sense. Keep costs low so us battlers can afford them I guess. Cheers. Can't beat that OEM look though can you!
