350x ebay part purchase turns out to original part to my 350

I just purchased a 350x mud flap off ebay this week since my X did not have one. I just bought the X a couple months ago and have been slowly working on it. Anyway, this mud flap I purchased was cracked in two but is mended together with a small bracket and screws... I figured it was worth the price and could somehow make it work (yea I know I bought a broken part on ebay you can laugh).

When I went out back to the shop to do some work on the flap I noticed that my rear fender has a massive crack exactly where the mud flap has its crack. Holding it up it was a perfect match. It never occurred to me that the fender and mud flap could have been together before. The flap came out of California and I am in Michigan. What are the chances of this part making it out to CA then back to MI and then onto the same rear fender. What's the chances? Sort of neat. Anybody else have this happen before?

A little off topic, but the weirdest mechanical thing I ever saw was at a family gathering at Candle lake SK in the early 80's. My Grandparents from SK had a 1980 Mercury, my Aunt from AB had a 78 Mercury wagon and my folks from MB had a 79 Ford wagon. By accident we found out that the keys for all three vehicles were identical.

The next week one of my uncles did a little research on it with Ford to see how many key types they used. The math on all three interchanging was astronomical.

Another was when an uncle of mine bought a red 1946 Chevy truck at an auction for his son in the early 80's because as a kid in his home town there was a black 46 he liked a lot. When we stripped the red paint (and a few other colours) off the truck was black and had the city insignia on the doors. It was the same truck!
    It sucks to get old
