    82 250r head on 84 engine

    will an 82 cylender head work on a 84 motor

    The 81-84 motors were the same.
    84 ATC200X--Wife rode it once, now I can't get it back.
    84 ATC250R--Trying to find piston for 300R kit.

    In head I'm assuming you mean the cylinder/jug. It'll bolt up ... but ... you will see a pretty significant reduction in power (in stock form) from the '82 to the '84. The porting was much more agressively timed and compression quite a bit higher (7.3:1 vs 6.6:1) on the '84 and '81/'82 motors respectively. Now, if you were going to drop in a wiesco and port the jug, then it won't matter anyway. The earliest first generation red motored 6.6:1 compression R's had 20hp with the 2nd generation 6.7:1 compression '83 Black motor cranking out 24hp and the 7.3:1 compression '84 motor rated at 27 - 29hp (I've seen both ratings listed but the 29 is from the Honda brochure).
