Just right or just a tad lean?

This came out of my 185. runs fine. But I loose power after 3rd and I'm guessing it's because the pipe has so many leaks. (Some one had a honky welding job going on)

I was always told it should look like coffee and creamer... guess this proves I put too much creamer in my coffee then lol. Back to tuning the carb I go!

In some cases lean and mean wins..but not there! You'll end up blowing a hole in the piston.

Perhaps one plug cooler, one main jet bigger and let your thumb off the bar once in a while!!

Electrode should look like a brown paper bag and the porcelain should have a 2mm thick chocolate ring around the base of the plug (you have to cut the threads off the plug to see this though. I would most definitely look into figuring out what jets you have in that carb and setting it back to stock.

If the carb is stock and depending on the year of your 185; a 40 pilot, 108 main and 1-3/4 on the pilot screw opening should get you in the ball park.

Also need to run a good filter.

Looks lean as the experts have said. You probably won't fry a top end running it like that, but I would definitely give the carb a thorough cleaning and see what jets you have. As far as you know the main could just be clogged. A set of tip cleaners for a welding torch will clean the jets out good.

The 185 isn't really a high performance engine. I've had a modern 4 stroke 250F lean enough to where the header is glowing red (those carbs are the worst to learn on). The engine bought the farm about a year ago. Not because it was running lean, because I didn't want to make the owner pay for the tools and head work required to build it correctly -_-

On that topic though, first gen rmz/kxf 250 would make a great engine swap for a trike. Killer low end and mid range, top end falls flat though.

Just put a new top end on it and run it without the muffler that should fix it. If not do that 15 more times lol

Seriously though maybe you have an exhaust leak.

    make it stoppppp
    hmmmm
    No, I'm curious,

Is this a "customers" bike you ran with a "glowing header"?

You're not making a lot of (no) sense here, and giving bad advice on top of that.

No wonder you're having so much problems with your R, if you think what was shown in the pictures is perfectly fine and you clean carb jets with a torch tip cleaner.
