Absolutely right Doug... And then we (or at least I) find ourselves wondering how we got to a point where there are laws about things like this to "go around" in the first place! It's a legal substance and business owners are no longer allowed to choose their own policy on what legal activities are or are not allowed on their own property. I'm not saying I like a smoke filled bar, I'm merely saying that the right to set policy on that subject belongs solely to the owner of the establishment. Let the owner make the decision either way, and let the market decide if it was the right choice for his establishment in terms of how it effects his profits. If an establishment goes smoke-free as a result of pressure from the free market, I would not have an issue with it. It's the over-reaching long arm of big brother I take serious issue with....
What we are talking about here is a clever blend of prohibition and legality where the government can bar the use of the substance in almost all locations and circumstances, yet still collect all that lovely "sin" tax revenue anyway. I mean seriously, people can no longer smoke OUTDOORS in most places any more...They will be regulating your smoking on your own property, in your own home, and in your own vehicle too, just you watch..
