    Sourcing companies to make reproductions

    Hey guys,

I am looking for a company or someone that can bend bars (like handlebars) and
looking to get some 18 tooth splined couplers made.
The splined couplers with 18 teeth seem to be hard to find.

    Thanks

    18 Teeth

Probably going to have to hit your machinist friend that made you those other Taurus parts. I suspect they won't be cheap though!

The couplers are for the rear hubs.

Yea, the only place so far is quoting $60 a unit plus setup fees. About 2K for 10 units to start... :s

Got a link? I am considering building a rig to make my own bars and send them off to get chromed.

Do you have an exact drawing of what you need that could be uploaded into ESPIRIT?

Matt the best thing to do would be to get a CAD drawing of what you need and probably upload it somewhere like www.mfg.com

The biggest challenge is those internal splines are going to need to be broach cut - and finding someone that already has one of those broaches will certainly make your $$$$ a lot less.

Most Cad/ Cam software has spline feature built-in. IIRC, you enter minimum ID, max ID, and number of splines and it will generate a drawing for us. At least MasterCam and BobCad both have this feature built in. Not sure if those are popular in Canada though. My point is you might be able to get away with just your dimensions when dealing with a CNC machinist.

As Billy said, that's not a broach that a lot of shops have laying around unlike say a keyway broach

Yea, I know what you guys are sayin. I sent some emails out to some Chinese companies that from what I found have very similar couplings in size, however, the length differs.
I am hoping to be able to get the length I need from them. The one company sells the 2" overall version. Worst comes to worst I could get the 2" version and just get spacers made.
