My experience with you people + Inner circle

I'm sure some of you Top Notch form members have heard this before.

    "There's an inner circle"
"You only help out each other"

Now, my friend who's name shall not be mentioned, me and him talked about this a few times.
There are some people, people I have not met, and hope not to, who are to ignorant, to jealous, or just not smart enough to understand the simple things.
I've heard of these kinds of people complaining that only the top members help each other. That these members would never help the little guy, would never send us free parts, would never take time out to help us.

Now, I'm sure most of these people are decent and I mean to insult no one.
But they have a child's mindset of, "If I'm not getting that, why are they?" My buddy, who's a well-known forum member, told me this one day.
"IF I didn't like you, I wouldn't be doing this. I do this because I know you would do the same for me"

Now, nobody knows who I am. Most only know of me as a 19 year old kid, who doesn't know much, and asks a crap load of questions.
This friend of mine invited me to camp with him at Trikefest, without ever knowing me prior, taken 2 weekends outta his life to help me get my bike running when he's got a million things better to do, and has given me more free parts than I can count.
Now why is it that I received such treatment?
    I'm not knowledgeable.
    I'm not well-know.
I have hardly any skills or services to offer.
Yet, somebody was nice to me.
Possibly because I'm a half decent human being? Perhaps because I treat people with respect? Perhaps I would treat anyone the same way if it's within my power?
Really, it's the last, and that's what these people don't get.
That last principal really sums it up. The good people like this, do stuff for each other and expect nothing back. Like my buddy. He gave me this stuff, not expecting something back for everything he gave, but knowing that I would do something likewise back, if it was within my power. Like if he needed parts, and I had them to give, I'd give it. If he needed help working on a bike, If I have the time, I'd give it. If he needed advice on something I know, I'd give him what I know.
For instance, I'm not experienced in mechanics, he is, he helped me fix my bike. I sell shoes and boots. So I give boots and shoes in return.

It's sad to see that some people only wanna get and never give unless it benefits them. And I truly love this community. From the few people I have met and have gotten to know, they have been awesome.
They are polite, nice, and all-around just good people. I've had so much advice given to me. I've had quite a few people help me with bike problems and troubleshooting. So many people who have given there time to point me in the right direction, as far as working on bikes, parts to gets, services to use. So many people who are just all-around good people, friends you want to have. And I'm appreciative of everyone of them and try my best to return the favor in whatever way I can.

There is no inner-circle, there is no only helping each other, you just refuse to help or be helped

"Top members"? I didn't know there was a hierarchy here.

Forgive me but this post comes off more negative than positive and clearly seems to be inviting more of the recently baffling drama.

Not sure who came up with this inner circle business (in fact the only people I've seen post about it seem to consider themselves part of it) but I agree with you that it's pretty ridiculous to think it exists.

Personally I've sent parts to several members here at my own cost and never considered asking or receiving anything for free. No cookies are necessary.

Glad you have some people helping out.

I've found that 99% of all trike people are good people. They are giving, helpful and would do just about anything for you! This community is like a big family!
RIP - Yamahondaman!! You will never be forgotten!
RIP - Sam Brehm!! Gone but NEVER forgotten!
RIP - Sandpuppi101 - You will live on in my mind - I miss you friend!

Sorry if it came off like that.
Top notch was just referring to the more well-known members who have been around awhile and often give advice, comment, etc. Not trying to add to any drama
The post is more or less me trying to explain my appreciation for what people have some to me. And not understanding some people's mentality.
And true, no cookies needed, you don't always give because you know someone else will give back one day.
You give because your a good willed individual

But you don't get treatment like that from being the jerk. Your just a recipient of someone else's good will.

I had an old bicycle at my house, been sitting there for awhile, kid my age comes up and wants to buy it. It needed a chain and tires. So I just gave It to him. I wasnt going to do anything with it. Didnt do it because I thought he was going to give me something in return down the road, its just being kind to a fellow human being.
That's the message I'm trying to get across is my appreciate for that kind of attitude that's fairly prevalent within the community.
And if you do that, its safe to say that the person who received that kindess, is going to want to show that to someone else.
I've been shown that kindness, and want to give that to people, both the ones I know and don't know.
Be treated how you want to be treated.

It gets way to gang like in here with some of you guys. Always has, and that's why people are leaving and not coming back.

    Blame it on facebook.

    Very interesting.

Boy traffic sure is slow around here. Wonder why.

Could possibly be because people are sick of hearing about how complicated rear shocks and how fast tiny motors are.

I have a suspicion that somebody here with all this info doesn't even own a 3 wheeler.

Let's see where that takes us, shall we.

OOHH I see a moderator checking in already!! FUN FUN!!

I see you too J, bring it. I'll be all over your thread like white on rice on a paperplate in a snowstorm.

DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU, oh holy ones.

P.S. See you lookin too Mr. C!! Long time no see, ol buddy!!

I completely agree. Your misinterpretation of what I said is obviously a part of it.

Please tell me what any of what I said has to do with an inner circle.

It pertains to the fact that for a period of time only very few people's advice or opinion was accepted, and that if anyone challenged it they were immediately mobbed.

I never said a damn thing about any inner circle, that's just what you wanted to hear.

Again, this thread is going to nothing but perpetuate drama, which is obviously now your intention. Congrats and have fun with that. I've clearly stated in several areas on the site the error of my past interaction, and my intention to change it in the future. If you want to dwell or continue to hunt witches I cannot control that.

    Adios.

Jacob: I'm not sure who is considered in the "inner circle" and who is not. I don't concern myself with such things personally.

But what I do know is that I too have been on the receiving end of great generosity from some really good people here. And in my own small ways compared to some, I have tried to pay it forward and keep it going. I have met a few members personally and ridden with them, guys that have been here years longer than I. And while one or two may come across a little rough around the edges in the typed word on the forum, in person they are some of the nicest people I have ever met and ridden with.

I really haven't experienced a feeling of being outside an inner circle myself.

There is no inner circle, good old boys club, secret clique, or whatever it gets called.

That's the whole point of some of us mocking the idea with a Masonic avatar for a profile pic. It's our way of being passive aggressive, sarcastic, and contrary.

    Is it childish? Yes.

I don't care, though. It's an internet forum FFS.

Some of my best friends in life were made on this forum. Some of my worst enemies too.

For the most part I think we're a pretty good group of dudes with some level of insanity to enjoy and do the things we do. Many hang out and communicate off board/forum, even though the camaraderie may have begun here. TF has always been something that accentuates that.
