Need some expertise and experience on this....bought my 250R and it needed a new chain...I noticed there was quite a bit of slack and the axle was adjusted as far back as it could go. Picked up a stock 520 O-ring chain but it barely fit with the axle moved all the way forward...it was tight...too tight. I noticed the old chain was a link or two longer...counted the sprockets and the front was a 14 tooth...so it makes sense the stock chain I purchased was too small. The rear sprocket was a 42 tooth...so I went down to a 39 thinking that would give me enough slack to adjust the chain. Well it gave me too much...and with the axle all the way back it was still too loose. Though I liked the 39/14 gearing for the riding I do. This past weekend I decided to pull one link out of the stock chain to tighten things up...well now it's too short even with the axle all the way up.
I know the chain slider is gone....that needs to be replaced....don't want to pull the swing arm though. I would like to keep the 39/14 sprocket combo. However one link is either too long or too short even with the adjustments in the rear axle.
Suggestions? I know one of them will probably just buy a new chain and sprocket combo...I would really like to keeo the 39/14 if I can.
