84 200 won't start. Help!!

My 84 200 won't turn over, the compression checks out at 120, there's a coil that we know is good on there and the carb just got rebuilt. I have no idea what to try now. Any ideas?

1. Does it have a bright blue spark?
2. Does it have a very clean air filter with no obstructions in the intake tract?
3. Are there fuel deposits on your spark plug?

No fuel at all on the spark plug! And everything else is good

I would say to look at your carb again. Is there fuel in the float bowl?

I'm not home now but I know you can smell the gas pretty easily when we crank it. It even sprays out of the carb..

if you smell gas to the point of flooding and you don't see fuel on your spark plug, something isn't right. If you smell gas you should be seeing it on your plug.

If I remember right I had one do something like that and it had a bent valve. But I would just follow the steps yaegerb gives you. May not be a bent valve at all.

I'm no expert wait for yaegerb to reply. On second thought If the valve is bent I don't think it would have good compression.

Before you go on a wild goose chase make absolutely sure you have excellent spark (blue), fuel moving into your cylinder (showing on spark plug) and adequate air flow (filter and intake track to carb bell isn't restricted). It will fire with those three elements, though, may run irradically if something else is wrong.

From what you have said so far I am thinking that you are getting fuel on spark plug (if you smell gas it should be present ) and your spark isn't as strong as you think it is.

Course, I have seen some weirder crap happen.

The spark plug is always dry after we try and turn it over, we even put fuel directly in the hole and nothing happened. The spark is bright blue so what else could cause that?

if it's not firing when you put gas in the hole then your spark isn't strong enough to ignite the fuel or the motor is out of time.

The "dry spark plug" with flooding smell has me perplexed. I would still crack the float bowl puke screw and ensure gas is in your bowl and go so far as to remove the carb, shine a light in the cylinder to ensure there isn't an obstruction.
