1985 125m not getting electric power

Bought a 85 125m that's been sitting for a few years, put a new battery in it to see if the electrical start and lights work, all that happened is the light flicks on when I jiggle the wires behind the front head light, I've checked all those conection and they are all good, I'm not so good with wiring and was wondering where I should go from here

you have connection issues, you need to pull the harness out fo the headlight assembly, clean every contact with contact cleaner and 250-300 grit sand paper and re-connect them. I also bet you have some of the female connections loose and need to be slightly squeezed down with a pair of duck nosed pliers, but again only a tiny bit. if you can not do it w/o damaging it, then use a small vise.

I think your connects are loose and rusty...

The only conection were the light lights up is where the battery positive cable hooks up to some silver round thing then after that nothing, what is that thing and could it be the problem?

yes if you have a bad relay that could cause the issue. but there is a main fuse just before that and if the fuse is bad or rusty/loose connections that can cause this.
