Quick carb Q for 200x build (24mm with 108/40 jets vs. 27mm carb with 95/38 jets)

Yes, another carb jetting form the desk question In short: I have added a TRX250 recon with accelerator pump carb to my auto-x 200x build. stock 200x carb is the 24mm with 108main and 40 slow jets. The new card has stock jets for the Recon and is 27mm (bigger) and 95 main and 38 slow jest (Smaller). so the bigger carb has smaller jest, is this b/c the recon is not a performance ride? or am I missing something here? I am planning on starting with a 118 main and working my way down to tune (See very good post http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthr...light=200x+jet ) (Due to the 10.25:1 piston, Uni and Bassani) and keep the 40 slow as a start point, but want to get as much direction as possible before I start the process. I was just thrown off by the smaller stock jet size for the larger carb designed for larger motor (250cc vs 200cc)

EDIT: More info, seems the XR200 carb many run as an upgrade is 26mm (Bigger than stock 200x) and has stock 110/38 jets (Also bigger than stock 200x).

I run an XR200 carb on my 85 X. Yes it is a 26mm(2mm bigger than stock). I have 10.25:1 65.5mm wiseco, moose filter, lid removed from airbox, and a full Dg exhaust. Elevation is like 200ft (Central Florida)... i run a 118 Main, and a 40 pilot. Needle in center position. The Xr carb has a fuel screw(intake side) and it is out about 1 & 1/4 turns. I feel pilot circuit is probably a tad rich. Maybe because its so hot and humid here, but Starts first kick, no choke, no throttle, everytime. Even after sitting for days. And has pretty good pull throughout the throttle, no popping on deceleration no stuttering, nothing. But i feel like i could probably run a 120 for the main to give it a little more oomph. I need to order more jets so the 118 will stay until then. It runs good, seems to get a little too hot(which suggests lean?) but havent put a temp gun on it yet. But overall, it runs good, and pretty strong. Im about 6'2 and 275lbs and it easily pulls up the front wheel in 1st, and 2nd, and 3rd as well if i have the rpms up a bit before lifting it. Anyways, this should give you an idea. Although every bike will be different

I think starting just a hair over stock and see what you get. If that motor is a 200m then stock jetting should be around 100-105 main w/ a 38 pilot. I personally like to go fat on the pilot just because it starts and idle well, so I'd go with the 40 pilot and 108 or 110 main. That should get you in the door. With the accelerator pump I've heard of people disabling it to dial in the carb and then hooking it back up after that. Not sure what this requires but you may just be able to disable the rod that activates it.

Understood, but I am running a 66.5mm 200x top (Only a 200e bottom) with a 10.25:1 piston, Uni and Bassani. I am also at 1100 ft above sea-level.

With the accelerator pump I've heard of people disabling it to dial in the carb and then hooking it back up after that. Not sure what this requires but you may just be able to disable the rod that activates it.

That is great info on the pump, I was not aware of this issue. I took a quick look and it appears to be easy to bypass, just disconnect a few hoses and reconnect at a different location.
