    1985 ATC250R Fork Question

So I'm looking to rebuild my forks and was just wondering other than Ebay, are there any other websites that might have some of the parts id be looking for to accomplish this?
My forks keep leaking oil and I cant figure out how to fix it. Tubes look pretty straight and I've replaced the upper seals and dust caps. Progressive springs as well!
Other than that not real sure where to go from here. Any help would be great. Thank you

I would look into new bushings for your forks. If your bushings are worn, or the ID of your lower fork tubes are worn beyond limits, then new seals won't last very long. As far as where to look for them, I'd try OEM first, then All Balls I guess.

Good looking R by the way!

Bushings aren't available oem. Bushings from a cb650 work and are available oem. I can't remember what year.

The microfiche on Partzilla shows the bushings as being available. The back-up rings are also available, is that something that wears out and should be replaced?
Fox250r, how do you like the progressive springs, I was thinking of upgrading mine too.

Sometimes partzilla lists parts as available when they are actually not available. I'm not saying that's the case here, just something to note.

You can get the seal kit aftermarket. As stated you will want to replace the bushings and sleeves. Bushings are still available for the ATC 250R.

    Bushing: 51414-463-003 BUSH, FORK PIPE
    Sleeve: 51415-463-003 SLEEVE, FORK PIPE

Progressive springs are OK, a better replacement is to have Milner use his method to change the damping on your forks.

guy I go to for most work, he said when I sold him a set of forks, that if customer wanted(to pay for), he could replace all the guts with cartridge type suspension, giving full adjustabilty, more performance and getting out of the old tech stuff. He could do this for most forks out there, some cases is a improvement and others is a total tranformation.

Not trying to hijack the Op's thread, but I'm having the same issue with a leaking seal and I wanted to fix everything while I'm doing it so I need the same info!

See the sleeve on the bottom of part number 8? Not offered as a rebuildable part on the 250r but they use it on many other models. Also replace that when replace the bushings...as a set, your shocks will thank you.
